Technical Trainer

MacGregor – Let’s shape the future together

Do you have a strong technical background in the maritime industry and a passion for enabling others to succeed? MacGregor is now looking for a Technical Trainer with primary focus on Shipboard Cranes, to strengthen our Global Services Division.

 

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that our internal service engineers and external customers have the competence needed to operate, maintain and service MacGregor Shipboard Crane systems safely and efficiently. You will combine solid technical expertise with modern learning methods to create engaging, practical and effective training programs.

 

The position reports to the Senior Manager, Training. The preferred location is Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, but the role may also be based in another MacGregor Global Services location depending on the candidate’s profile.



More tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality technical training programs for internal service personnel and external customers
  • Produce, maintain and continuously improve training materials such as manuals, presentations, and digital learning content
  • Conduct training sessions both on-site and remotely using a variety of instructional methods
  • Collaborate closely with digital learning and training specialists to design engaging and effective training solutions, including simulations and blended learning
  • Perform qualification and competence assessments of service personnel in line with internal processes and regulatory requirements, and ensure accurate certification records
  • Ensure training content reflects the latest developments in Shipboard Cranes, applicable regulations, and industry best practices
  • Support and train local frontline trainers and maintain their accreditation
  • Contribute to the development of training delivery strategies and support the implementation of MacGregor Academy initiatives in daily training operations

What you’ll need to succeed

You are motivated by sharing knowledge, building competence, and working in an international, technically advanced environment. You enjoy combining structure with continuous improvement and collaboration.

 

Ideally, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the maritime or shipbuilding industry

  • Experience from field service or hands-on technical roles (strong advantage)

  • Solid understanding of Shipboard Cranes or other relevant MacGregor merchant products

  • Practical knowledge of mechanics and/or hydraulics

  • Familiarity with classification society requirements, service processes, and technical documentation

  • Ability to plan, facilitate and complete training sessions effectively

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible learning content

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a global team

  • Experience with training tools, LMS platforms or digital learning solutions is an advantage

  • Fluent English, written and spoken
