Do you thrive on ensuring operational excellence and keeping things running smoothly? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking for experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible to perform repairs and service activities, including refurbishments, upgrades, preventative maintenance and corrective actions for MacGregor and equivalent equipment.
You will maintain productive team and customer relationships as well as ensuring Best Practices are applied in all service related activities.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Work with lead mechanics onboard fishing vessels and in the marine shop
- Maintain equipment with hydraulic and electrical systems, follow technical drawing, sketches, operation manuals, engineering specifications and class requirements
- Perform maintenance and repairs on shipboard equipment such as cranes, stern ramps, hatch covers, and wenches
- Perform repairs on more advanced shipboard equipment as needed
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Safety & Audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Complete documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed
Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Dutch Harbor, USA.
What you’ll need to succeed
You may be a great fit for the role if you have experience rigging large equipment and you are able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics. In addition, experience in maritime, commercial, and/or large electronic equipment is considered a plus.
Ideally you have
- Commercial or technical background preferred
- Minimum requirement: high school diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in mechanical and electrical trouble-shooting and equipment repairs
- Experience with mechanical systems
- Experience with conveyors and pumps
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- Must have and be able to maintain valid Passport & TWIC Card
- Must pass DOT physical post job offer (before employment begins)
