Are you experienced in service management and have broad engineering understanding? Do you have previous experience in managing people? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire an Operations Superintendent to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, USA. The Operations Superintendent is responsible for managing utilisation of services personnel to meet business requirements.


In this role you will manage service engineers and technicians (competency, training, quality, safety, HR). Your day-to-day responsibility is to coordinate the service personnel availability between different offices to improve the utilization and to ensure that all possible orders can be taken in and executed. In addition you will guarantee fair workload distribution among the personnel and to train them with different skills set to best cater to business needs.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage Service Engineers / Technicians (competency, training, quality, safety, people)
  • Coordinate the service personnel / SE availability between different offices to improve the utilization & resources, ensuring that all possible orders can be taken in and executed
  • Ensure fair workload distribution among the service personnel and to train them with different skill set to best cater to business needs
  • Ensure compliance to OPM (operating principle manual)
  • Support service administrative works (visa application, yard/port entry application, local insurance) where applicable
  • Review service engineer reports
  • Customer relationship management for defined customers and support marketing and sales activities when applicable
  • Make quotations based on scope of work
  • Consult technical support team to resolve any technical issues
  • Keeping Order Book updated
  • Responsibility for pre-job briefings with engineers and technicians 


Reporting directly to the Operations Manager Cruise & Merchant. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Fort Lauderdale, USA.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be a great fit if you have previous experience from a similar role within the maritime industry. You also demonstrate operational, people management and communications skills to gain the trust of the team and organization to keep things moving smoothly.

 

Ideally you have

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ electrical engineering or technical license
  • Relevant work experience may compensate for lack of education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations or a similar field. Preferably in the marine & offshore industry
  • Competencies in operation management, customer centricity and broad engineering understanding
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
