Control System Designer

MacGregor is looking for a Control System Designer to join our Global Service Division team. This role is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise to service projects, ensuring our control systems meet the highest global standards.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead PLC and HMI software development for service projects.
  • Actively participate in tender activities, design reviews, troubleshooting, and related to control systems and HMI
  • Provide expert support to other team members and internal divisions in your area of expertise
  • Prepare and maintain all required technical documentation, ensuring compliance with company standards
  • Participate in the commissioning phase and provide all necessary support to ensure project completion
  • Be willing to travel up to 30% of your time to support global projects
  • Support electric engineers in network design, component selection 

 

Reporting directly to the Electrical & Hydraulic Systems Lead Engineer located in Poland. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Gdansk, Poland. 

What you’ll need to succeed

We are seeking a proactive Control System Designer who not only responds to challenges but anticipates technical issues before they impact operations. Your approach must be solution-oriented, backed by a strong foundation in complex control systems, ensuring long-term reliability and efficiency.

 

Must have

  • Bachelor’s (B.Eng.) and/or Master’s (M.Sc.) degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with industrial control systems and PLCs. (Experience with marine/offshore projects is preferred)
  • Expertise in Siemens S7-1500 and S7-1200 programming using STEP 7 / TIA Portal
  • Proficiency in programming languages: LAD, FBD, and SCL
  • Solid knowledge of industrial networks (e.g., ProfiBus, ProfiNet, CANOpen)
  • Fluent in both written and verbal technical English
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work under pressure
  • Active Category B driver's license

 

Nice to have 

  • Knowledge of Omron CJ series
  • Knowledge of Mitsubishi FX3U
  • Knowledge of WAGO PLCs and remote I/O system
  • Others PLC systems
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatics systems
  • Basic ability to read mechanical drawings
  • SEP Electrical certificate
