Electrical Design Engineer

As an Electrical Design Engineer you will be responsible for applying your strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional project teams, ensuring designs meet quality standards. 


The main task is to focus on cranes and various equipment i.e. ro-ro installations, hatch covers, winches, etc. The engineer will contribute to conversions and upgrades, cooperating with project teams to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality solutions, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Perform electrical design for complex items within a project or contract
  • Prepare and deliver all required technical documentation in accordance with the project execution model
  • Support product development activities and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project disciplines to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering standards, regulations, and emerging technologies
  • Provide technical support as needed, demonstrate strong work ethic, and perform additional duties, including occasional travel, when required. (Estimated 20% off time)
  • Participate in tender activities, design reviews and troubleshooting related to Electrical Systems
  • Support other team members and divisions in areas of expertise
  • Participation and support in the commissioning phase as required

 

Reporting directly to the Electrical & Hydraulic System Lead Engineer.

 

The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Gdansk, Poland and operates on a hybrid model, requiring an on-site presence of two days per week.

What you’ll need to succeed

Excellent knowledge and strong technical understanding are essential in this position. We are looking for a person who has hands-on attitude, good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability and interest to work and execute within an international environment. 

 

Ideally you have

  • University degree (M.Sc. / B.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • Experience in the offshore or marine industry will be considered as a distinct advantage
  • Proficiency in CAD systems
  • Knowledge of communication and control networks (BUS / Network Systems)
  • Basic PLC Knowledge
  • Understanding of engineering design workflows and best practices
  • Proficiency in strategic work organization, priority determination, and deadline management
  • Ability to work at a height of over 3 meters
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Active driver licence cat. B
