Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of an organization’s structure? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Purchaser to join our team. 


The Purchaser will be responsible for managing the entire purchasing process, including placing and tracking purchase orders in SAP, verifying automated orders, and ensuring timely delivery in alignment with company policies. The role involves obtaining supplier offers to support the RFQ process, collaborating with the Sales and Quotation teams, and monitoring supplier performance. The Purchaser will also provide guidance to junior team members, generate required reports, and ensure purchasing activities meet the company’s cost/quality standards. Additionally, the position requires proactively addressing any issues related to pricing, delivery dates, or supplier performance.


You will evaluate supplier offers to ensure competitiveness and suitability, monitor the progress of purchase orders and ensure timely delivery and confirm realization of purchase orders and track delivery dates. In addition, you will alert relevant teams if there are any issues with prices or project deadlines.

More tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Support the development and implementation of best practices within the purchasing team

  • Generate and deliver purchasing reports on request

  • Work to optimize the purchasing process to achieve the best cost-to-quality ratio

  • Review and verify invoices from vendors in the Basware tool, ensuring accuracy and compliance with purchase orders and contract terms

  • Proactively identify, resolve, and manage any claims with suppliers related to pricing, delivery schedules, or product quality

  • Work with suppliers to resolve disputes and ensure satisfactory outcomes

  • Act as a point of contact for resolving any challenges during the purchasing process

 

Reporting directly to the Purchasing Team Leader. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Gdansk, Poland.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

The ideal candidate for this role is a team player, with the ability to collaborate across departments. We are looking for a person who has strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal teams. The suitable person is an effective communicator who has the ability to present information clearly, self-motivated and able to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

 

Ideally you have

 

  • Commercial or technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Proven track record in a similar purchasing or procurement role, ideally in the maritime or spare parts industry

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with SAP, Google Workspace (G Suite), and advanced Excel

  • Accountable and responsible for meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards

  • Efficient with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • A go-to person who provides support and mentorship to junior team members

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
