We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to take charge of the mechanical design for our marine equipment. In this role, you will turn concepts into reality, making sure every design meets technical requirements, class rules, and high quality standards. You will also coordinate work with other engineering disciplines and support less experienced designers.

More tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Creating layouts, adapting concepts to contract requirements, and handling interfaces with ship or shore structures
  • Checking equipment kinematics during operation, defining load cases, selecting suitable hydraulic or electric drives
  • Planning design schedules, design according to estimation, report deviations to project team 
  • Taking responsibility for the technical correctness of drawings, and checking the work of other mechanical designers
  • Working closely with hydraulic and electrical designers on component selection, and cooperating with strength analysts on structural calculations


 
Reporting directly to the Team Manager Design Marine. This position is based in Gdańsk, Poland.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

To do great in this job, you need strong practical knowledge of mechanical engineering in the marine industry and a good eye for detail. We are looking for a team player who understands design rules and production practices, and who can easily communicate with both internal teams and external partners. 
 
Ideally you have

 

  • A Degree (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in mechanical engineering within the marine industry
  • A solid understanding of design processes, production practices, installation methods, and marine rules & regulations
  • Good, practical experience with Autodesk software
  • Great teamwork skills and the ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines
  • English skills on a good level
