Technical Advisor - Structural Discipline

MacGregor is seeking a high-level expert to join our team as a Technical Advisor - Structural Discipline.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance to ensure discipline alignment and design integrity across our operations. You will act as a guardian of quality, ensuring full compliance with international standards and regulations while driving continuous improvement initiatives. As a senior subject matter expert, you will be pivotal in fostering technical development within your discipline and promoting proactive knowledge sharing across various teams and departments.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Act as the technical focal point for all disciplines - specific advice & support.
- Perform structural reviews, and support changes to ensure rigor and quality across all designs.
- Ensure all design activities comply with international standards, regulations, and client requirements. Actively monitor changes in global regulations and proactively update product designs.
- Lead initiatives to evaluate and implement new tools and work processes. Improve project quality and implementation efficiency by using modern engineering practices.
- Support the growth of the engineering team by mentoring team engineers and helping Line Managers define the competencies required for both internal teams and external contractors.
This role encompasses both Technical Advisory and Structural Analysis responsibilities. The holder will actively support current projects by providing essential analytical backing within the discipline.
The position will be based in MacGregor’s office located in Gdansk, Poland or Kristiansand, Norway, and reporting directly to the Manager, Mechanical and Structural
What you’ll need to succeed
To thrive in this senior expert role at MacGregor, you should be a seasoned engineering professional with a deep technical foundation and the ability to influence others. We are looking for an individual who combines analytical rigor with a collaborative mindset.
Ideally you have
- A M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Engineering. Extensive relevant professional experience may compensate for the lack of a formal degree.
- At least 10 years of experience within a relevant engineering or technical field, demonstrating a proven track record of handling complex deliverables.
- Experience within the offshore and marine industry. Experience with motion equipment, such as cranes and gangways, is an advantage.
- A deep understanding of structural & engineering principles, design processes, and routines.
- A solid understanding of product technology, including practical knowledge, and maritime rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Ansys and SpaceClaim is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and design integrity.
- Ability to work in international teams, with the capacity to motivate and inspire your colleagues.
- Open-minded approach driven by a spirit of continuous improvement.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
