The purpose of the role is to perform repair, maintenance, and inspection work for the MacGregor product range and 3rd party equipment. You will ensure the work is carried out efficiently, accurately, and safely, while supporting the overall goals and budgets of our Service division. As a Service Engineer, you will also cooperate with other service stations and ensure all activities comply with the Integrated Management System, QHSE, and MacGregor standards.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Professionally supervise and perform service activities (inspections, preventative maintenance, overhauls, upgrades, and corrective actions) on MacGregor Group equipment 
  • Provide remote support to customers when needed and be ready to travel at short notice
  • Provide technical information and prepare clear, accurate service reports after completed jobs
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers. Recognize on-site service or spare parts opportunities and actively support sales activities
  • Co-operate with the local and global MacGregor service network. Support the Spare Parts Centre with parts identification and manage subcontractors on-site
  • Make commercial decisions within prescribed project limits (agreed with the Operations Superintendent) and maintain awareness of service order profitability 
  • Strictly follow all site safety, quality, and environmental rules with a high focus on the "zero injuries" rule 
  • Coach and onboard junior colleagues or trainees when necessary

 
Reporting directly to the Operation Superintendent. This position is based in Gdynia, Poland.

What you’ll need to succeed

We are looking for a field service professional with a strong background in at least one of the following areas: mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering. 


Previous experience in the marine industry or a shipyard environment is highly desirable. 
 
Ideally you have


 

  • Technical education or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position, preferably within the marine or shipyard sector
  • Hands-on skills in performing repair jobs; experience with MacGregor products is a strong plus
  • Openness to frequent service/business travel (often at short notice) and strong communication skills
  • Good command of English and basic PC skills (MS Office / Google Workspace)
