Cost Engineering Manager

MacGregor is looking for a Cost Engineering Manager to take ownership of our cost management and control functions, driving significant savings and increasing overall competitiveness.
The purpose of this role is to increase our competitiveness from a design and cost perspective by streamlining internal processes. You will lead our cost management functions, developing robust cost estimation models and providing strategic financial guidance to ensure savings targets are met on schedule.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and oversight of cost management systems and procedures across Business Lines
- Monitor savings initiatives, identify variances, and present forecasts and RoI analyses to BL stakeholders
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for new saving initiatives, supplier changes, and design modifications
- Collaborate with engineering and sourcing to ensure estimation accuracy and adherence to minimum technical specifications
- Identify, assess, and mitigate cost and technical risks, providing expert guidance during planning
- Support standardization, modularization, and the identification of alternative components (dual sourcing) to increase flexibility
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team and across BL stakeholders
Reporting directly to the Technical Director, Cost Competitiveness located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
What you’ll need to succeed
The role involves continuous customer contact, problem-solving, strategic planning, and process improvement. You will influence key internal stakeholders across the Equipment and Solutions Division (ESD), Offshore and Specialised Division (OSD), and Global Services Division (GSD), acting in an advisory, negotiating, and decision-driving capacity.
Ideally you have
- M.Sc., B.Sc. (Econ) Diploma, higher technical education, or long, documented professional experience
- At least 8-10 years of experience in the Maritime business, with at least 2-4 years in a leadership or management role (e.g., in technical or project management)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in financial modeling, cost analysis, and forecasting
- Thorough understanding of project management principles and practices
- Good knowledge of the Sourcing and Supply Chain process
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Good knowledge of the design process and product costing
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google tools
