Senior Key Account Manager
MacGregor is a global company that operates in 30 countries with 2000 employees. We provide sustainable cargo and load handling with a strong portfolio of products, services, and solutions to the maritime and offshore industries. Our solutions are found in over half of the world's merchant fleet.
We believe MacGregor is a great place to work and we are looking for innovators with an international mindset to join our team and help us create lifetime value for our customers.
MacGregor – Let's shape the future together
MacGregor is moving beyond transactional relationships to become a true strategic partner for the world’s most influential maritime stakeholders. We are looking for a Senior Key Account Manager to be the architect of long-term value, bridging new capital-equipment innovation and lifecycle excellence, and owning the end-to-end commercial strategy and growth for a defined portfolio of strategic global accounts. The role is unique in its dual scope: enabling high-value newbuild equipment sales while maximising the lifetime value of the existing fleet through comprehensive lifecycle services.
This is not a transactional sales role. Success is measured not by the next order closed, but by the depth of the partnership you build, ensuring MacGregor is the customer’s first choice from initial concept design through decades of operational service. Sitting within our central Sales Excellence function, you will take a “one MacGregor” approach, acting as the single senior point of contact who brings the whole of MacGregor to the customer, and the internal voice of the customer in return.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Senior stakeholder engagement: Build trust-based relationships across the executive, technical and operational tiers of global accounts, and draw on the MacGregor executive team to open C-suite doors
- Integrated account planning: Build and execute multi-year account plans with your account team, mapping each client’s needs to MacGregor’s full newbuild and lifecycle portfolio
- Lifecycle value optimisation: Use fleet, trade, regulatory and dry-docking data to identify modernisation, maintenance and service-upgrade opportunities across the client’s global fleet
- Early-stage pipeline and joint value: Engage accounts at the concept phase, before tenders are issued, positioning MacGregor as the preferred choice and turning customer challenges into joint solution development
- Cross-functional orchestration: Lead the internal account team across newbuild and services to present a unified, proactive “one MacGregor” face to the client.
- Voice of the customer: Champion your accounts internally, feeding market and regulatory insight back to R&D and Product Management, and escalating roadblocks to keep commitments on track
Reporting directly to VP, Sales Excellence located in Gothenburg, Sweden. This position can be based in one of the main MacGregor office locations in Europe.
What you’ll need to succeed
We are looking for a senior commercial operator who leads through relationships rather than transactions, with the gravitas to sit with a customer’s leadership team and orchestrate the whole of MacGregor behind them.
- Minimum 8+ years of high-value business development or key account management experience within the maritime or offshore sectors, managing global, multi-million-euro portfolios
- Hybrid commercial expertise: demonstrable success selling both complex capital equipment and long-term service and maintenance contracts
- Strategic mindset: mastery of consultative selling, and the ability to create opportunities where none previously existed
- Matrix collaboration: an exceptional ability to influence and coordinate diverse teams across time zones and business units
- Technical literacy: comfortable discussing complex maritime asset operations, vessel integrations, and digital and automation concepts with technical directors and fleet managers
- Fluency in English (mandatory; additional languages are a plus), and willingness to travel internationally to maintain high-level customer intimacy
Desirable: a pre-existing personal network at senior level within several globally leading shipowners and operators; and experience of international, multicultural working environments.
