Are you experienced in service management and have broad engineering understanding? Do you have previous experience in managing people? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire an Operations Superintendent to join our team in Hampton.
The Operations Superintendent is responsible for managing utilisation of services personnel to meet business requirements.
In this role you will manage service engineers and technicians (competency, training, quality, safety, HR). Your day-to-day responsibility is to coordinate the service personnel availability between different offices to improve the utilization and to ensure that all possible orders can be taken in and executed. In addition you will guarantee fair workload distribution among the personnel and to train them with different skills set to best cater to business needs.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Customer relationship management for defined customers and support sales activities when applicable
- Provide service quotations to customer and frontline sales
- Work with Account Managers/Representatives to follow up quotations in a timely manner
- Prepare service jobs, arrange technical documentation, and order subcontractor/shipyard services
- Organize and support with service administrative task such as visa application, yard/port entry application, local insurance where applicable
- Complete pre- and post- job briefings with his/her employees
- Review service engineers service reports
- Check, approve, and prepare relevant documents needed for invoicing
- Consult technical support team to resolve any technical issues
- Keeping Order Book Updated
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Hampton, Virginia.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will be a great fit if you have previous experience from a similar role within the maritime industry. You also demonstrate operational, people management and communications skills to gain the trust of the team and organization to keep things moving smoothly.
Ideally you have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Electrical engineering or technical license
- Relevant work experience may compensate for lack of education
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations or a similar field. Preferably in the marine & offshore industry
- Competencies in operation management, customer centricity and broad engineering understanding
- Valid Driving licence
