Tax Manager, Indirect taxes

Are you an independent, problem-solving professional who thrives in a collaborative global environment? We are looking for a Tax Manager, Indirect taxes to participate in global tax-related assignments to ensure that MacGregor’s tax management complies with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations. 

As a Tax Manager, you will manage tax risks and provide valuable tax advice and support to in-house stakeholders in respect of indirect tax. Furthermore, while your main focus will be on VAT and other indirect taxes, you will have the opportunity to expand your scope to cover certain direct tax areas based on your preferences and the group’s needs.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and implement best practices for managing indirect tax processes within the group
  • Proactively advise on the VAT implications of complex goods/service deliveries, business model changes, and new business initiatives
  • Offer training and guidance, as well as develop internal instructions with regard to indirect tax
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their impacts on MacGregor
  • Manage tax audits and the implementation and maintenance of tax-related tools and technologies where necessary
  • Actively participate in broader tax initiatives, taking the opportunity to learn and support tasks related to direct tax and transfer pricing as needed.

Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, the position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Helsinki, Finland or Sofia, Bulgaria.

What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you are self-motivated, eager to learn, capable of working autonomously, and have the drive to take ownership of your own projects and initiatives. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills who can work efficiently in both virtual and traditional teams, as you will be communicating daily with external tax consultants, tax authorities, and MacGregor colleagues globally.

Ideally, you have:

  • A Master of Laws or Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate taxation, including solid experience in indirect tax
  • Experience in transfer pricing and other areas of direct tax or a strong eagerness to learn and expand your expertise in these areas is seen as an advantage
  • Basic Excel skills, and SAP experience is an advantage
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English.
