Do you thrive in engineering and supporting customers? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Service Engineer to join our team.

 

We are seeking a dedicated professional eager to leverage the inherent global nature of the maritime business. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to travel extensively, engaging directly with our operations aboard ships worldwide.


In this role you will perform and supervise service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, preventive maintenance and corrective actions as well as inspection.


You will stay up to date with technical developments applicable to equipment as well as technical specifications of MacGregor range, internal service bulletins and others. You need to understand various requirements and expectations, including costs and budgets, co-ordinate sub-contracted assignments and report any non-compliance and make decisions about required action up to agreed authority levels and then communicate with Service Manager.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan and then conduct service or repair as necessary
  • Submit high-standard regular reports as specified by Service Manager
  • Review and edit personal daily activity reports
  • Inspect daily activity reports of subcontracted team members
  • Delegate work assignments to subcontracted teams (if any)
  • Keep regular work meetings with subcontracted teams and superiors (if any)
  • Monitor performance and provide support
  • Carry responsibility to ensure that all site safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements are complied with, both according to customer's in-house regulations and to general standards

 

Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Le Havre, France.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be a great fit for the role if you can manage a big repair work in which at least 5 foreign workers are involved. You can also organise transports, tools, material, spare parts as well as food and accommodation for a team of people. You have good knowledge of hydraulic systems (high & low pressure), electrical systems; basic knowledge of  electronic equipment. Good knowledge of mechanical and structural drawing and Google suite (Gmail, sheet, pages, etc) is also an advantage.


Ideally you have

 

  • Qualifications from college or University in technical engineering is a plus
  • At least 5 years’ experience in equivalent position
  • Driving license is mandatory
  • Willingness to travel 70% of the time
  • Medical first-aid certificate is a plus
  • Fluent in both written and spoken French
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
