Are you driven by problem solving? Do you thrive working with complex and large equipment? Look no further, MacGregor is looking to hire an Automation Engineer, Electrical.

The purpose of this role is to execute service, repair, and maintenance work, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced hydraulic and mechanical equipment, as well as electrical and control systems, across the MacGregor product range and third-party products, if needed.

This is a position that requires that you travel to client sites, vessels or at shipyards worldwide. Our clients are primarily domestic but also spread across the globe, i.e., the US,South and Central America, and beyond. Therefore, flexibility and a strong willingness to travel is essential. Our office and workshop is located in the Rio de Janeiro area where you might be assigned to local work if needed, therefore it is essential that you live within reach. 

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide information and write reports as required
  • Supervise and perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
  • Stay up to date with relevant developments, routines, processes and news
  • Comply with all relevant safety and quality requirements according to the company standards.


This role is part of our Global Services Division. Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. 

What you’ll need to succeed

Your main discipline is automation and software. As a person you are customer-oriented, cooperative, and have good communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information within the team. 

  • At least 5 years working directly with software and automation;
  • Education within the electrical, control and automation field. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of education;
  • Previous experience in the maritime/shipping industry and with shipboard equipment (cranes) is essential.
  • Somatic and electrical components knowledges
  • Ability to write reports and documentation electronically
  • Ability to work with a flexible daily schedule and be available for short-notice travel assignments
  • Proven experience working with computer systems professionally
  • Proficient in English language - both verbal and written
  • It is essential that you live around Niterói and São Gonçalo.
