Are you driven by problem solving? Do you thrive working with complex and large equipment? Looking no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Service Engineer with hydraulical and electrical competence.
We are seeking a hands-on expert to perform repair, inspection, maintenance and service on marine equipment. This includes MacGregor’s and third-party equipment as cranes, winches, hatch covers, RoRo equipment and/or Deck Machinery. Your main discipline is hydraulical and ideally electrical, while you have a basic understanding of mechanics. Your commitment to quality and safety will be crucial in ensuring our customers' vessels operate smoothly and that we meet our service objectives.
This role is based in Rotterdam however requires frequent travel locally and abroad. You will work at local shipyards and ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerpen and Amsterdam in addition to various ports and with client vessels located world-wide. Services are expected to maintain flexible working and travel hours in response to demand.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical equipment
- Supervise and perform the refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
- Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager to support all activities
- To support Service overall goals and budgets
- Preparing detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
- Ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards
- Work overtime hours and during weekends when required, willing to travel frequently
This role is part of our Global Services Division (aftermarket). Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent located in Rotterdam.
What you’ll need to succeed
You have a background in the merchant, offshore, or maritime industry, with a primary focus on hydraulics and electric equipment. Knowledge and experience in basic mechanics is a plus. We are looking for a communicative, technically skilled individual who is passionate about problem-solving and committed to customer satisfaction. You are goal-oriented and have a reliable working style. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment, as well as supervising repairs carried out by subcontractors.
Ideally you have
- Technical education or college level or similar relevant experience
- 2 years experience on similar position
- Main discipline is hydraulical and electrical engineering
- Experience in marine/shipyard and/or offshore sector is an advantage
- Hands on and supervising skills in performing repair jobs
- Openness to frequent business travel and irregular working hours
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
