Are you an autonomous, strategic, and relationship-focused professional who thrives on spearheading strategic sourcing initiatives? We are looking for a Category Manager to drive MacGregor’s business growth by focusing on sustainable cost reduction, long-term sub-category roadmaps, and high-performance supplier partnerships. 


As a Category Manager, you will support MacGregor’s strategic and financial targets by managing and reporting for your assigned categories, developing and executing category strategies through alignment with cross-functional teams. 


Furthermore, you will provide sourcing leadership, act as a Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM), and continuously monitor market developments to initiate corrective actions when needed.

More tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial savings actions plan for incumbent and coming years for the assigned categories, and support Commercial Saving Initiatives for each business line
  • Search for, identify, develop, and maintain the supplier base according to business line needs, and control the bidders list for strategic categories
  • Liaise with Sourcing to provide updated market intelligence information and identify or evaluate new suppliers where applicable
  • Manage internal communication with category key stakeholders, advising on category matters and presenting business recommendations to management
  • Secure that supplier data (such as delivery conditions, prices, and lead times) is updated and communicated in ERP systems


This is a global role with responsibility across all of MacGregor.Operating from MacGregor’s China office, this position reports directly to the Director of Sourcing.

What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you possess strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the proven ability to close arguments and agreements. We are looking for a strategic thinker who operates with a high degree of autonomy, moving beyond tactical execution to act as a strategic business partner who will write the playbook for their category.

Ideally you have:

 

  • A Commercial or Technical background at the Master or Bachelor level, or equivalent
  • Over 5 years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, and Supply Management within relevant categories
  • A proven track record as an expert negotiator, coupled with a willingness to lead and train the Sourcing and Supply Chain teams further in negotiation skills
  • Solid experience in product cost optimization, category strategy implementation, and stakeholder management
  • Strong presentation and writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and express yourself well in groups and one-to-one conversations
  • Knowledge in the fields of SAP, Purchasing, Logistics, and International Transportation
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and relationships while remaining focused on key deliverables
  • A wide supplier network with an understanding of alternative solutions 
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
