MacGregor – Let's shape the future together
Are you driven by problem-solving and inspired by complex engineering? MacGregor is hiring a Production Control Supervisor to manage the manufacturing and assembly of specialized offshore mechanical and hydraulic equipment. In this role, you will oversee primary fabrication and assembly operations—including welding, painting, machining, piping, and assembly—while ensuring all documentation and quality standards align strictly with project requirements.
Working closely with production teams, you will supervise the assembly of mechanical components and hydraulic circuits, leading rigorous testing and acceptance procedures such as pressure testing, system flushing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) according to the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP). Additionally, you will monitor and evaluate risks related to quality, cost, and schedule, delivering technical support and proactive risk mitigation to guarantee seamless installation and commissioning.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure suppliers adhere to MacGregor quality standards through active workshop presence, supervising mechanical assembly and hydraulic installations.
- Follow up on and document quality issues, focusing on mechanical tolerances and hydraulic system integrity, while driving continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to refine mechanical design, documentation and production efficiency
- Perform comprehensive inspections of mechanical components (bearings, gears, pins), hydraulic assemblies (cylinders, power units, valve blocks), and final machinery, adhering to MGC holding points.
- Verify hydraulic cleanliness levels (e.g., ISO 4406 standards) and ensure proper flushing procedures are followed prior to system activation.
- Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) inspections alongside Class surveyors and customers, specifically witnessing pressure tests and functional load tests.
- Supervise mechanical fitters, hydraulic technicians, and test workers at supplier facilities to ensure best practices in assembly.
- Provide technical production support to suppliers regarding complex mechanical alignments and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Educate and train shipyards and subcontractors on the installation and piping of MacGregor hydraulic systems, including welding of high-pressure lines and proper hose routing.
- Regularly audit supplier documentation, including material certificates (3.1/3.2), pressure test logs, and hydraulic flushing reports.
- Review and follow up on final Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs) and FAT reports to ensure all mechanical/hydraulic deviations are resolved and documented
- Provide input to progress reporting
