Are you a proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented professional who thrives on solving complex queries and improving financial processes?
We are looking for a VAT Specialist, RTR to support VAT-related topics and assist the Team Lead in extracting VAT data for external audit partners.
As a VAT Specialist, RTR, you will provide first-hand support for end users' VAT questions and ensure the correct treatment of processed VAT documents.
Furthermore, you will assist with statutory auditors' requests and support the continuous development of the MacGregor Business Services Tax and statutory set-up alongside internal stakeholders.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Review VAT related data, prepare the necessary calculations and submit VAT returns in a number of different jurisdictions
- Extract and validate data for the preparation of EU sales lists and Intrastat, whilst assisting in the continuous improvement of Intrastat data quality in the ERP system
- Provide first-hand support in end users’ VAT questions, with an initial focus on P2P/AP processes
- Review processed VAT documents and assess for correct treatment from a VAT perspective
- Take responsibility for the preparation of VAT G/L accounts reconciliations.
- Keep track of the changes in the VAT legislation in selected countries
- Assist the Team Lead in analysing end-to-end transaction chains to provide guidance and process improvements from an indirect tax perspective.
This role, a hybrid position based in Sofia, Bulgaria, reports to Team lead Indirect Taxes.
What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, it is essential that you possess strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills. We are looking for a proactive individual who takes the initiative to improve both their own and the team's work practices, and is comfortable handling simple to mid-complex queries within a Shared Service Center (SSC) environment.
Ideally you have:
- A minimum Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
- 2+ years of experience with VAT
- Knowledge of international indirect taxes (EU VAT Legislation).
- Proficient in English both in written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, mainly Excel
- Hands-on experience working with ERP/Cloud systems and an understanding of main SAP functionalities will be considered as an advantage
- Experience working in an Shared Service Center environment is a plus
