MacGregor is seeking Senior Service Engineers specializing in Mechatronics, Mechanics, Hydraulics and/or Electrical systems to join our newly established Service Team in Trieste.
In this role, you will lead and execute service activities including the repair and maintenance of marine equipment, such as deck machinery, hatch covers, RoRo and cranes, along with MacGregor and third-party systems. As a senior team member, you will operate independently while providing guidance and coaching to junior colleagues and delegate work assignments to subcontracted teams when required.
This role requires extensive European travel to client sites, shipyards, and vessels. Given our global client base, high flexibility is essential. Our office is in Trieste for local assignments, so living within reach is required.
What you’ll be doing
- Supervise and/or perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions on MacGregor and equivalent equipment.
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic and/or mechanical systems
- Document work, share learnings, and contribute to continuous improvement and best practices
- Coach and support less experienced engineers and technicians
- Ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards
What we’re looking for
An experienced goal-oriented, hands-on professional with maritime, offshore, or heavy machinery experience, this solution-driven professional balances self-reliance in independent field operations with strong collaboration in multicultural teams.
Ideally, you have:

8+ years of hands-on marine field service experience with a proven track record. Candidates with extensive practical experience without formal certification will also be considered.

Technical qualification, degree, or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or marine engineering (or a related field)

Previous experience on MacGregor or similar equipment is considered a plus

Exceptional problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities

Advanced proficiency in interpreting product manuals and complex technical schematics

Proficient English skills for effective on-site communication and reporting

Must hold a valid driving licence

Willingness and adaptability to travel extensively throughout Europe, including multi-week and overnight trips
